In summer is easy to reach a temperature between 35º, and in winter between 18º during the day, and 10º at night time, with typical Mediterranean temperatures with soft winters. All of this makes this area of the Marina Alta a perfect place to spend a holiday throughout the year.
Teulada-Moraira can presume of having history, traditions, culture and monuments, which makes it one of the preferred locations in this area to discover. It has many places to visit like Moraira’s castle, Fishing Port, or Cova de les Rates. One of the most populars Spanish “fiestas” is Moors and Christians, based on the ancient battles between the Moorish attackers and the Christian defenders. The festival celebrates the final success of the Christians. Very interesting to visit.
Alicante airport “El altet” is just 1 hour, and Valencia airport is about 1hour and 20 minutes driving.
You can reach Teulada through the N-332, between Gata de Gorgos and Benissa. On the other hand, Moraira is 6 kilometers from Teulada following the coast road.
The town of Jávea is about 15 minutes driving, and Calpe is about 20 minutes by car from Teulada-Moraira, while Benissa is reached in 10 minutes.
Also Altea and Benidorm are close to Teulada-Moraira, in just over half an hour by car.
Some of the restaurants in Teulada-Moraira are recommended by the prestigious Michelin Guide. Visitors can choose from traditional cuisine and Italian, German, Oriental and French specialities.
The local traditional dishes are “putxero de polp” (squid stew) “sopa de peix” (fish soup) as well as salted melva (similar to tuna), “bull” and “anxova” (anchovy).
Also the famous Mediterranean rices as, arròs a banda” (which is similar to paella but with small fish piece without skin), “arròs negre” (which includes small fish pieces, and the rice is black colour because it is maked with squid ink. There is rice soup with octopus, “arròs de senyoret”.
The Mediterranean wine has it’s own personality due to the privilege climate. The most famous product is the muscatel “Mistela”, but also White rosé and red wines which will go with the meals, and amazing sparkling wines. So as your pleasures matters, always you will find the right wine for each occasion.
Moraira-Teulada has an extension area of around 2,000 hectares used for cultivation and 1,000 hectares are used for vineyards. It is very famous for the growing of Muscatel grapes for make wine.
Moraira has a population around 10.000, which is increased to as many as 30.000 people in summer months.
The building developments in Moraira are different than another towns like Calpe or Benidorm, the Law does not allow to build high-rise buildings. So here the feeling of space and non-stress city.
The famous yacht club, “Club Náutico” has 620 embarkation points. It offers differents activities to do as sailing courses and regattas during the whole year
About Moraira beaches, it has three sandy beaches, and many rocky coves where the scuba divers use to go and discover differents kinds of sea fish.
The town has big supermarkets like “Mercadona”, or “Mas y Mas”, they supply also some products from another countries. And also there are small German or English supermarkets where you can find special products which are imported.
The shopping centre closer to Moraira is “Centro Comercial Portal de la Marina”. It belongs to Ondara, and it has all kinds of fashion shops, bars and restaurants, also pet shops, cinema, hairdresser, and big supermarket “Carrefour”. In addition you will find local shops and boutiques offering cloths and a range of womenswear, shoes and accessories in Moraira.
For administrative purposes, Moraira is part of Teulada and both share town hall.
All of this makes Moraira a perfect place to live or visit.
