Dénia is a quiet little town located on the east coast of Spain between Alicante and Valencia, belongs to the region of the Marina Alta, and it is located along the coastal stretch known as the Costa Blanca.
The city has a population of 41,672 that is increased as double during the summer months.
Alicante airport is just 1 hour driving through the AP7, and Valencia airport 1h and a half.
The town of Teulada-Moraira is about 35 minutes by car. And Benidorm is just 40minutes driving through the AP7.
The marina at Dénia is one of the most important ports along this coast of Spain. The marina has been totally refurbished over recent years and now provides a stunning location to walk, sail and enjoy the Restaurants. Also from there you can take boats “Ferri” to Ibiza, o Mallorca, which are running every day.
The main avenue in Dénia is the Marques de Campo is surrounded by bars, banks, cafes and restaurants with a designer of shops and offices, where you can sit just to take an icecream or a coffe or you can go shopping if you wish.
One of the most important monuments in Dénia is the castle. It is located at the top of Denia, close to the town hall. And it is surrounded by the narrow streets. The castle also has a museum. It was built in the 11th century and has been remodelled several times over the years.
The Montgo Mountain (Parque Natural del Montgo) is the best place for amazing walks. Behind the mountain you will find the little villages of Jesus Pobre and Pedreguer. And you can cross it to arrives to Javea in a quick way.
Dénia is divided in two areas, from The old town centre and into the left of Dénia is Las Marinas area and into the right is Las Rotas. Some of the larger urbanizations in Dénia include La Sella (surrounding the golf course).
The local market is located in Magallanes Street, and you will find different service as fresh and first-rate product as fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, bakery, salted fish, cafes, etc. The Opening Hours. From 6.30 a.m. to 2 p.m, from Monday to Saturday.
The fish market is located in the Port of Dénia – Fishing Quay you can watch how the ships arrive to port since 3.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. You will find a great variety of sea products: Dénia red prawn, lobsters, sea urchins and different fresh seafood; octopus, anchovy, calamari, hook fishing and all kind of fresh fish.
